Learning to ski or snowboard at an early age is the perfect way to help young children instill a love for winter. Exploring the slopes helps kids build self-confidence, meet new friends and develop a lifelong affinity for the outdoors.
Emily Bradbury – Adventure Travel Mom – Founder
A native Vermonter, Emily grew up skiing at Suicide Six and Mount Snow, and now lives in Stowe with her husband and two sons. The lone skier in a family of snowboarders, Emily spends her winter between the mountain and the Nordic trails, and still finds fresh snow on a Vermont morning breathtaking.
After paying her dues on the bunny slope, Emily now strives to keep up with her 8 and 10 year old boys, who rip their way through the woods and terrain parks, seeking out every jump, trick and steep they can find. Despite a lifetime on the hill, Emily took her first lesson in over 30 years last winter in an effort to continually improve both skill and style, and be able to follow her kids wherever they go.
A blogger, freelance writer and public relations consultant, Emily is the founder of Adventure Travel Mom, a family travel blog exploring destinations that are athletic, authentic, educational, and inspirational. She is also a contributor to Vermont Mountain Moms, offering a local’s perspective on travel in Vermont’s mountain towns, and her writing has appeared in Mountain Life Magazine, Ciao Bambino, Active Travels, and The Lonely Planet.
As a public relations consultant, Emily has worked with many of the state’s hospitality and specialty food businesses, including the Vermont Department of Tourism, Cabot Cheese, Vermont Creamery, and the Stowe Area Association. All Posts by Emily
Adrienne Veglia Mazeau
Adrienne Veglia Mazeau is the mom of two school age children, and loves taking them on adventures with her attractively geeky archaeologist husband. She writes about balancing a demanding full time career and family travel both close to her home in Upstate New York and beyond.
Although currently on a hiatus from blogging, her writing strives to inspire others balancing family and demanding careers to carve out time to travel together.
Adrienne began skiing at age 12, but lost touch with one of her favorite pastimes when her career and family demanded much of her time. Now many years later, she is back on the slopes again and teaching her children to embrace winter and develop a love of skiing.
