Before the snow flies, ski areas across the state are full of scenic chairlift rides, harvest festivals, pumpkin painting, strider races for the littles, and Halloween fun for every age. And if the kids outgrew everything again (they always do), fall ski swaps are the easiest way to size up without breaking the bank 🎿

Swipe for our family guide to:
🍂 Foliage kickoff festivals starting THIS weekend
🦉 Owls, Oktoberfest + Single Chair rides in early October
🚲 HarvestFests, hayrides + a kiddo strider race mid-month
🎃 Halloween happenings (costumes encouraged!)
🎿 Every ski swap and sale on our radar
❄️ Events to kick off the countdown to winter

📌 Save this for weekend planning and tag the friend who’s always in charge of family fall plans 👇

🥾🍁 Same mountains you love in winter. A whole new way to explore them.

Fall is easily the best season to take a hike in Vermont: crisp mornings, blazing foliage, and summit views with zero lift lines.

Where we’ve laced up so far:
🔥 Stratton: fire tower views with a maple creemee reward 🍦
🏔️ Middlebury Snow Bowl: a winter gem that’s just as magical on foot
🍂 Mad River Glen: morning hike, lunch at Stark’s Pub, then a stop at Warren Falls
🌲 Jay Peak: Take the tram up and hike down
☀️ Plus Okemo, Burke, Sugarbush, Killington, & more!

💡 PRO TIP: Hiking with kids is part adventure, part comedy show. Pack extra snacks, bring layers for the summit, and keep your sense of humor handy.

Save this for your next fall weekend in the Green Mountains 🍁 Trail guides and tips are on the blog. Link in bio! 🔗

🚵‍♀️ We came for the skiing in February. We came back for the berms. ☀️

Turns out Burke Mountain is just as good in summer — and you don’t have to be a hardcore rider to love it. (Mama Chi didn’t even know what a “berm” was when she showed up!)

What made the trip:
🚴 Lift-served bike park — your bike rides the chair, gravity does the rest
🌲 Kingdom Trails — 100+ miles for every ability, including adaptive riders
🏡 Darling Hill’s “Wildflowers Backyard” skills area — perfect for kids & first-timers
🏊 Outdoor pool + hot tub with the mountain right behind you
🥾 The 2-mile South Shore Loop at Lake Willoughby
🍦 Creemees, a country store, and Auntie Dee Dee’s Bakery 🥐

💡 PRO TIP: Your ski RFID card works for biking too!
