Next stop on Vermont Mountain Eats: Jay Peak Resort, the Top of Vermont and home to fantastic spots for food and drink. Check out what restaurants we recommend before, during or after hitting up Jay Peak’s legendary terrain (or legendary waterpark!).
Café Oma
Café Oma kicks off many a locals day with their fresh-made muffins and Oma lattes. Located in the Jay Cloud Cyclery in Montgomery Center, Café Oma offers a tasty selection of homemade pastries, breakfast sandwiches, caffeinated beverages, soups, and töstis (think panini). Perfect to get you up to the hill or, for the first chair folks, a nice lunch respite.
Miso Hungry
No Jay Mountain Eats would be complete without a nod to Miso Hungry. The authentic Japanese ramen tram car located at the tram side base offers hot ramen to keep little legs moving throughout the day. My personal favorite is Miso’s other location at Stateside, Miso Toh Kome. The smaller spot at the base of the Jet lift offers miso soup and onigiri, a perfect grab and go lift snack to keep the energy up.
The Foundry
Looking to sit down? Head to the Foundry. Located at Tramside, the Foundry has something for everyone, wood-fired pizza for the kids and more upscale options for those with more discerning pallets. Personally, I love the spiced cauliflower to balance out a plate of the loaded fries…
Omakase
Omakase, well known in the area food truck scene, recently made the jump to full-fledged restaurant. Located on 242 between Jay Peak and the town of Montgomery, the Asian-fusion restaurant is known for their poke bowls and as they stretch out into their new space, is adding new and exciting things to their menus. This local is thrilled.
The Belfry
The Belfry is a hometown favorite. Operating out of the historic one-room schoolhouse, the Belfry offers burgers, seafood, and pasta. The trick is to always check out the blackboard and see what specials the chef (and the bartenders!) have whipped up. They’re usually creative and delicious.
The Drink
The top of Vermont can get cold. The place to warm up? The Pump House Waterpark. And when the hangry strikes, there’s The Drink. Overlooking the waterpark, The Drink offers lunch and dinner for hungry swimmers and cold and frozen cocktails for the ones on supervisory detail. Trust me, in 86-degree warmth, it’s downright pleasant.
