The temps are dropping fast in Vermont which means winter is just around the corner. But first, Fall. The colors, the apple cider (and cider donuts!), and family-friendly events at mountain resorts across the state. Here are a few we’ve gathered. For an extra special day, pair one with a hike at your favorite resort.
Flood Relief Concert with Michael Franti & Friends

The waters may have receded but there is lots more work to do! Enjoy a special concert from Michael Franti and Friends on the Stowe Village Green. 100% of ticket sales will benefit the VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund with the Vermont Community Foundation.
Monster Ski & Bike Sale
October 6-8 at Killington Mountain Resort
Need some gear for the upcoming season? Head to the Ramshead Base Lodge at Killington for the Monster Ski & Bike Sale. Crazy deals on new and used equipment to get you ready for the season. After you’ve geared up, head over to the Harvest Faire on October 7 for activities for the whole family including pumpkin painting, apple launching, and more. Proceeds will go to support the KSC Scholarship Fund.

Enjoy fall in the mountains with food, fun, and games for the whole family. Enjoy activities like pumpkin paintings, horse-drawn hayrides, apple launching, and a bounce house. There are events for the adults too, including the fan-favorite stein hoisting competition. Best of all? It’s free!
Opal Raven Circus
October 8 at Bromley Mountain Resort
Celebrate the fiery colors of fall with Opal Raven’s one-woman circus. Opal performs several fire and sword dancing acts at Bromley Mountain Resort. Rain date: October 9.
Best Whip
October 8 at Burke Mountain
Whip it real good! Compete for bragging rights by showing off your best whip on the Jester Bridge at Burke Mountain Bike Park. Participants will be judged on amplitude, execution, and style. Not ready for big air? Hike up to watch and get inspired.
Halloween Party
October 14 at Jay Peak Resort
Got your costume ready? Head over to the Clips & Reels Recreation Center for costume contents, candy, tricks, treats, and fun for all. There will be climbing specials, a spooky movie showing, and $5 beer specials for the adults.
Friends of Magic Work Day
October 14 and 28 at Magic Mountain
Mountains towns build strong communities. Get your family involved in this community work day at Magic Mountain. Help clean glades and work on projects around the lodge to get the mountain ready for winter. Bring loppers, gloves, and protective eyewear if you have them. The outdoor grill will be open with food and drinks for volunteers.
Halloween Monster Mash
October 28 at Smuggler’s Notch Resort
Head to the FunZone 2.0 at Smuggs for the Halloween Monster Mash with pumpkin painting, donut eating contest, costume contest, glow mini golf, and more. There will be discounted access to the Go Zone and Spooky Laser Tag with fun activities for the entire clan.
