In the last decade, ski resorts have evolved to become so much more than destinations for skiing and riding. They now offer many alternate activities to keep families entertained both on and off the mountain. You will find tubing hills, ice skating rinks, rock climbing walls, spas, and more. No longer do ski weekends have to be just about skiing, nor do they just have to revolve around the kids. Often as parents we get so wrapped up in making sure our children are entertained that we forget we need time for ourselves as well.
Jay Peak offers families the best of both worlds. With a huge indoor water park, arcade, daycare and private sitters, you can rest easy knowing that your kids will have a good time while the grown-ups have a night out. On a recent trip to Jay, my husband and I took advantage of going to see a show while our teenagers hit the pump house for the evening.
Live Music
Great music happens all season long at Jay. In addition to the free live music you can hear at the Bull Wheel Bar après ski, several times a year Jay Peak hosts some well-known artists. On these nights the Foeger Ballroom is transformed into a prime concert venue where bands play to a packed house.
The weekend we were there Get The Lead Out, a Zeppelin tribute band, took the stage to play rock and roll classics like Ramble On, Good Times Bad Times and All of My Love. From the first guitar riff, I was instantly transported back to my high school days. You don’t have to love Led Zeppelin to appreciate how great this band is. The energy in the room was strong as lead singer Paul Sinclair belted out iconic favorites from the Zeppelin song catalog. Get The Led Out put on an incredible show cementing Jay Peak a serious music venue in my book.
Tips for a great concert experience
- Upgrade your concert experience. VIP tickets include pre and post-show lounge access with appetizers and two free drinks.
- Bring earplugs. The Foeger Ballroom is an intimate music venue but that doesn’t mean it won’t get loud.
- Leave the driving to them. Utilize the free resort shuttle to get you to the ballroom and back. It is on a continuous loop around the property.
- The Line Up. The roster of bands coming to Jay is always being updated. Check out who is coming next to take the stage.
Jay Peak offers so many great reasons to stay and play with them. We recommend you book the Ski + Splash + Stay vacation package. It includes lodging, daily lift tickets, unlimited access to the Pump House Indoor Waterpark, daycare for kids ages 2-7 and more. Concert ticket and lodging packages may also be available by calling the resort.
