If you haven’t visited Southern Vermont’s Stratton Mountain yet – you’ll be delighted by the European-style village that greets you upon arrival. Filled with a diverse blend of retail shops and restaurants, this resort offers a unique shopping and dining experience on and off the mountain. Here’s our picks for not-to-miss eats for the whole family, both on-mountain and off.

 On-Mountain Eats

Mulligans at Stratton

Mulligan’s

Centrally located and a short walk from the base area, this classic pub-style restaurant offers a mix of hearty American fare, craft cocktails and even a sushi bar! The pub offers a diverse children’s menu and new this year – the classic Vermont maple creemee.

Our menu pick: Mulligan’s famous nachos – add BBQ pulled pork and dig into the crunchy, cheesy goodness with a portion size fit for the whole family to share.

Basecamp

Don’t want to take your skis off, but need some fuel to keep your turns going? Basecamp has you covered. Directly next to the gondola and situated on the snow, this snack shack is perfect for a quick pit stop and serves up smoothies, healthy breakfast items and refreshing drinks.

Our menu pick: The Bacon Breakavocado toast on sourdough with bacon, sliced tomato, grated hard boiled egg and cilantro.

The Mid-mountain lodge at Stratton

Mid-Mountain Lodge

Arguably the most convenient choice of the on-mountain (literally) eats, this lodge is located at the base of Frank’s Fall Line, a quick slide down from the American Express chair. The convenient cafeteria-style lodge offers ready to serve classic American fare like burgers, chicken fingers and a slew of savory BBQ items. The lodge also features a full-service bar and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

Our menu pick: House-made BBQ pulled pork sandwich & french fries with house-made BBQ dipping sauce.

Bar802

This cozy, quintessential bar and restaurant serves up Vermont craft brews and a menu fit for the whole family. Often accompanied by live music or sports on the big screen, it’s an ideal spot for a midday lunch break or an aprés treat.

Our menu pick: 802 Chicken Sandwich

Off-Mountain: Manchester Eats

With a quick trip down the mountain to nearby Manchester, you’ll find a multitude of dining (and shopping!) options for the whole family. This quaint little town is also a perfect place to visit when the Vermont weather is less than ideal for skiing.

Umami

Manchester’s newest Asian fusion hot spot is a must-try for those looking for a culinary gem that serves up tasty ramen, fresh seafood and classic Asian dishes. For added convenience, the restaurant also offers Chinese takeout – perfect after a long day on the slopes.

Our menu pick: Chinese BBQ spareribs, slow cooked and tender coated in traditional chinese sauce.

Eggs benedict at Up for Breakfast, manchester, VT

Up for Breakfast

Every family needs a good fuel-up before heading out on the mountain. This quaint, cozy breakfast spot won’t disappoint with their large portions, fresh hot coffee and warm Vermont maple syrup. Tip from a local: get there early, there’s only a few small tables and wait times can be longer on weekends.

Our menu pick: Eggs benedict with house-made hollandaise sauce and hand-cut home fries.

Stratton Mountain Eats: Ye Old Tavern, Manchester, VT

Ye Old Tavern

If you’re up for a bit of Vermont history, step into the Ye Old Tavern. Built in 1791, the building has a charming history and a menu sure to satisfy every member of the family: from warm pot pies to juicy sirloins and classic apple crisp. In the warmer months, enjoy your meal at the restaurant’s dog-friendly patio. Reservations are suggested.

Our menu pick: Traditional pot roast – juicy brisket, potted in a Circa 1790 Amber Ale and pan-gravy.

Mountain Eats: wrap at Avocado Pit in Machester, Vermont

Avocado Pit

Think Chipotle but with fresh, Vermont-sourced ingredients. From burritos to tacos and house-made chips and salsa, this cozy restaurant is perfect for lunch or dinner. It conveniently offers online ordering and pickup in addition to dine-in. They also offer a diverse children’s menu and a full suite of beverages.

Our menu pick: House-made cinnamon sugar chips & refreshing honey-limeade.
