What a season in Vermont! The Mamas enjoyed some of the best ski and ride conditions that Vermont resorts have seen in years. We also enjoyed trying new activities and reaching new milestones as a family. Here are our top ten family moments in Vermont from the 2014-15 ski and snowboard season:
1. Discovering Magic
“…discovering the fabulous tree skiing at Magic Mountain and then getting snowed in and enjoying a perfect powder day with my family.”
– Mama Mara at Magic Mountain Ski Area
2. Torchlight, fireworks & s’mores!
“…ending the night with a torchlight parade, fireworks, and s’mores could possible be the best way to end a family day of skiing.”
– Mama Adrienne at Okemo Mountain Resort
3. From never-evers to life-timers
“As a parent my goal has always been to raise independent children. Putting my kids into ski school at an early age nurtured their self-confidence. As they started trying new things like racing and snowboarding, I watched them grow into capable and confident athletes. This season my teenage son competed on a cross country ski team and my daughter helped instruct younger kids at Cochran’s after school program. It has been incredibly rewarding to watch them go from never-ever skiers to life time lovers of snow sports.”
– Mama Dana
4. Bolton Valley after dark
“Night skiing under the lights at Bolton Valley was first for my family this season. It was so great to have an extended day and to cozy up in the Tavern afterwards to watch people catch last chair.”
– Mama Gina at Bolton Valley Resort
5. Going with the flow
“Phoebe’s first day on skis offered all sorts of promise. But as we got into the season, things became more complicated. We had good and bad days on the slopes. But I learned to take it in stride and keep our time on the mountain fun. I am already looking forward to next season with her.”
– Mama Erica at Cochran’s Ski Tots program
6. Holidays in Vermont
“Skiing Thanksgiving weekend at Sugarbush Resort. It may have been a bit windy and warm, but we had a great time.”
– Mama Mara at Sugarbush Resort
7. Parents- only escape
“Time alone with my husband is a precious commodity so getting away for a weekend together to ski the Beast of the East and have dinner at the unique Ledgewood Yurt at Killington was a blast.”
-Mama Gina at Killington Resort
8. Miss Independence
“That bittersweet moment when you see your child take the lift for the first time without you.”
– Mama Adrienne at Bromley Mountain
9. Mad River Grandma
“Sneaking away for Martin Luther King weekend and skiing Mad River Glen with Grandma. It snowed and she took the boys off trail into the woods.”
