Summer 2018 is almost underway, and we know planning your family to-do list is also well underway. With cool mountain breezes and sun-soaked forests paired with family friendly resorts and tons of activities, Vermont should already be on your summer must-do list. If you’re looking for great family friendly events to entertain everyone from 1 to 99, here are our top summer family events at Vermont ski resorts for 2018.

Music Loving Families

June 24, 2018 – VT Rocks Music Festival and BBQ at Bolton Valley Resort
The day will include music from noon until dark from eight bands on two stages, a BBQ from Rock House BBQ and beer from Stone Corral.

July 1, 2018 – Vermont Symphony Orchestra TD Bank Summer Festival Tour at Saskadena Six Ski area
This summer the VSO celebrates the gifts of nature through music with Guest Conductor Sarah Hicks. Experience musically-depicted majestic rivers, verdant fields, gardens in bloom, and the clear night sky, along with an extraterrestrial visitor reminding us to keep our sense of wonder at the bounty that surrounds us.

July 28, 2018 – The 5th Annual Jeezum Crow Festival at Jay Peak Resort
Named by the Vermont Chamber of Commerce as a Top 10 Summer Event, head to Jay’s Stateside Amphitheater for a full day of live music from bands like, Gov’t Mule, Robert Randolph & The Family Band, Seth Yacovone Band, Electric Sorcery, and more. Tickets are all-ages and $45 for General Admission. Children 6 and under get FREE admission.

August 11, 2018 Spruce Peak Folk Festival at Stowe Mountain Resort
Enjoy the outdoors and music on the green at Stowe’s Spruce Peak for an all day, family-friendly affair featuring Josh Ritter & The Royal City Band, Anaïs Mitchell, Daniel Rodriguez of Elephant Revival, and Vermont busker acts (TBA)! Tickets: $35 adults, $15 ages 12 and under. Festival Pass: $75.

Food Lovers

July 8, 2018 – The Highland Festival at Sugarbush Resort
Celebrate Scottish traditions with delicious food and drink and musical entertainment and games at the 2nd Annual Sugarbush Highland Festival – packed with fun for the entire family.

July 22, 2018 – Blueberry Fest at Okemo Mountain Resort
Celebrate the delicious little blue fruit, as it comes into season in Vermont. Beginning at 10 a.m. in the Jackson Gore Courtyard, there will be oodles of yummy blueberry treats, including blueberry pastries,blueberry pies, blueberry muffins and just plain blueberries. Get creative and tie dye a t-shirt to take home as a souvenir. Enjoy more treats while hanging with the kids and dancing to the kid-friendly tunes. The celebration would not be complete without a pie eating contest, to take place at 12:30 p.m.

August 11, 2018 – The Taste of Woodstock at the Woodstock Inn and Resort
Woodstock’s Annual street festival features over 50 vendors on Elm St,and highlights local food, crafts and art, while entertaining with children’s activities, live music, beer, and wine.

Independence Day Celebrations

July 3, 2018 – Fireworks for Freedom at Mount Snow Resort
Join Mount Snow as they celebrate our nation’s independence with a huge fireworks display and BBQ at the annual Fireworks for Freedom celebration.

July 4, 2018 – Independence Day at Smugglers’ Notch Resort and Jeffersonville, VT
Enjoy an old-fashioned July 4th celebration in Jeffersonville with parade at 10:00 am, carnival with games and vendors, kids’ games, live entertainment from 66 City Band playing classic rock tunes, food and a world famous frog jumping contest. Starting at 5:00 pm, Smuggs hosts a tasty Firemen’s Barbecue on the Green with proceeds benefiting the local fire department. Goodtime Charlie hosts music for all ages on the resort village green from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, and the Vermont National Guard 40th Army Band plays their mix of classic favorites and patriotic tunes beginning at 8:00 pm. At dusk, enjoy the spectacular fireworks against the backdrop of the Green Mountains.

July 7, 2018 – Independence Day Celebration at Burke Mountain
Enjoy one of the largest fireworks displays in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont with tons of family fun, including a bounce house, children’s bike park and kids coloring contest, plus live music, scenic chairlift rides, and great food  at the Sherburne Base Lodge. Gates open at 5pm. $5.00/per person.

Families with Youngsters

May 27 & August 11, 2018 – Magic by Scott Jameson at Bromley Mountain
Join magician and juggler Scott Jameson on May 27th and August 11 for an extraordinary performance that will have the whole family laughing out loud. Umbrellas will be plucked from thin air, a drawing will come to life, basketballs will be spun and juggled, and a member of the audience will unlock telekinetic abilities.

Families with Active Teens

June 21-24, 2018 – Wanderlust Festival at Stratton Mountain
Wanderlust Festivals are all-out celebrations of mindful living that bring together the world’s leading yoga teachers, top musical acts, renowned speakers, top chefs and much more for four days of new ideas, new friends, new moves.

June 23, 2018 – The Long Trail Century Ride at Long Trail Brewery and Killington Resort
Help raise money for Vermont Adaptive Ski and Sports at the 8th Annual Long Trail Century Ride. Check out the family-friendly 5K bike loop near the brewery. Mountain biking will be an options at Killington Resort. Register the whole family.
